In this lesson, you will learn why Early Steps provides services and supports in the child's and family's everyday routines, activities, and places and how this approach enhances the family's, and other primary caregivers' competence, confidence, and capacity to meet the child's developmental needs and the family's desired outcomes. You will also learn about Dr. Robin McWilliam's five-component model for delivering early intervention in natural environments, and you will recognize the influences of this model on the Early Steps service delivery system. This lesson also covers the first component of the McWilliam's model, understanding the family ecology, and the specific Early Steps policies and procedures related to its implementation.
